Thyroid Support
The primary gland that responds first to danger or a threatening situation is the pituitary gland. When the pituitary senses danger it releases a hormone that stimulates the adrenal glands to secrete adrenaline and cortisol. The pituitary also secretes various hormones that regulate the production of thyroid hormone and gonad hormones (estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone). When we are constantly under stress the pituitary gland begins to fatigue and no longer produces all the other various hormones needed for a variety of regulatory processes. For example, a reduction in the pituitary's production of thyroid hormones can reduce cellular metabolism, resulting in insufficient cellular energy needed by the liver for detoxification. Reduced pituitary function can also result in adrenal exhaustion and hypothyroidism as well as reduced levels of sex hormone production. This can result in chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, arthritis, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. It is important to avoid using toothpaste that contains fluoride. Fluoride and iodine are both members of the halogen group of atoms and have an antagonistic relationship to all other elements. Excess fluoride in the body can interfere with the iodine dependent functioning of the thyroid gland. If in doubt, do not use it.
