Bone & Joint Health
Bones not only give our body structure, strength and mobility -- they also serve as our "mineral storehouse" and help maintain our immune system and contribute to our health in a multitude of ways.
Calcium is required for proper bone density. It is found in extracellular fluid and inside the cell where it plays many metabolic roles. It is an electrolyte. It is alkaline. It is critical to normal nerve conduction, muscle contraction, blood clotting, and is essential for producing and activating enzymes and hormones that regulate digestion, energy, and fat metabolism. Calcium must always be taken with Vitamin D (D3 is the active form) for proper absorption.
The metabolic by-products of adrenaline and cortisol are acidic. This contributes to the inactivation of hormones and enzymes required for digestion, detoxification and cellular repair and maintenance. It also causes a loss of electrolytes and a demineralization of bone that can lead to osteoporosis.
